Patrice Rothchild is the creator and owner of Skin Savers. Her background in the medical field, combined with an entrepreneurial spirit, led to the formation of this health-oriented enterprise. She opened the doors to bring the Australian sun protection industry to the United States.

In her early twenties, Patrice developed a great passion for addressing the well-being of women and children. She felt that the best place to begin to accomplish that was during pregnancy. "Let's give the unborn the best opportunity to fulfill their potential by providing the optimum prenatal environment." This led to work in the field of midwifery and in assisting with the opening of the first federally funded birth center in this country. It was a great success and remained in operation in New York City for decades to follow.

Patrice went on to work in a variety of healthcare settings, with a focus on women and children. It was during her time as a student of occupational therapy at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine that she developed an interest in skin cancer prevention. Rates were growing at an alarming rate internationally but Australia was suffering most with the extreme ozone depletion occurring in that part of the world. She began to explore how this government regulated industry worked and what the potential was for bringing its products to the United States.

Once contacts fell into place, Skin Savers began its first days of operation with the assistance of the Department of Education in New Mexico. From humble beginnings, business slowly started to grow and media requests began arriving. It was exciting to see the education process beginning to take place and reach across the country. As a member of the Skin Cancer Core Team for the American Cancer Society, Patrice's effort to spread the proper information on how to protect from harmful UV rays was paramount.

Skin Savers eventually developed its own swimwear label, with the garments still currently handmade in Queensland, Australia. We use the finest Italian fabrics and offer options in prints, custom sizing, and custom styling. We may take a little more time to arrive at your doorstep, but each garment is made by women who have a deep concern about the well-being of customers. As well, we partner with the Cancer Council of Western Australia in bringing their products to our shores. We are pleased to help them with their efforts to fight this disease and support those who are working to overcome it.
